Nancy Bell - Biggie and the Poisoned Politician

MP3 | 202 MB | 80 kbps
Biggie Weatherford is the wealthiest woman in the tiny East Texas town of Job's Crossing. She's also something of an eccentric (she says cooling her feet in a propped-open refrigerator is easier than putting in air-conditioning). Mostly, though, she's an affectionate grandmother with a passion for fishing and an abiding interest in local history. Understandably, Biggie gets riled up when she finds out about the proposed garbage dump to be located next to her ancestral graveyard - the final resting place of James Royce Wooten, the town's founding father and the namesake of Biggie's young grandson, J. R. With J. R. by her side, Biggie plots to derail city hall, only to wind up in the middle of a murder investigation when, right in front of her, the mayor drops dead in his angel food cake. Now, Biggie might not have liked Mayor Gribbons and his plans, but she sure didn't poison him, and she's not about to let anyone in Job's Crossing get away with murder. With plenty of gumption, Biggie sets about catching a killer and relocating the proposed dump - and she still finds time to organize the annual Job's Crossing Pioneer Days festival.

Nancy Bell - Biggie and the Mangled Mortician

MP3 | 192 MB | 80 kbps
Lone star state grandmother Biggie Weatherford returns for further comic sleuthing adventures in the second installment of this fresh and funny series narrated by her ten-year-old grandson, J.R. This time around, Biggie hardly has time for detective work. Not only is she directing and starring as Little Buttercup in the town's production of HMS Pinafore, she is also ramrodding the drive to convert the old depot into a museum. But when the town's new undertaker, Monk Carter, is found dead, sprawled on the carpet of his apartment while water from the bathtub spills all over everything, Biggie rises to the challenge. Did Monk Carter die of a heart attack? Biggie's not so sure when Doc Hooper announces, after examining the body, that Monk's ribs have been smashed as if, as J.R. so elegantly puts it, "a giant grizzly bear came along and gave him a big old bear hug." Suspects may be few, but with J.R. at her side, Biggie sets out to solve this messy murder.

Nancy Bell - Biggie and the Fricasseed Fat Man

MP3 | 184 MB | 80 kbps
It's chicken on the burner--any way you want it--in Firman Birdsong's new restaurant. Problem is, old Firman's under the table, gussied up like a prize goose, gravy on top, parsley garnish, and a blood-red tomato in his mouth. Biggie's twelve-year-old grandson, J.R. saw the dead man with his own two eyes. Clearly, this is a case for Biggie--and her cousin, Sheriff Paul and Silas Wooten (yep, that's one man). But J.R. figures he and Biggie have other problems as well: his other grandmother and her buzzard husband have turned up, ready to snatch him back to Montana. So while Biggie and Paul and Silas are busy rooting out suspects, J. R. is planning his own great escape from wannabe grandparents with a fancy car with longhorns on the hood, money to burn, and secrets to curdle the blood....

Nancy Bell - Biggie and the Meddlesome Mailman

MP3 | 189 MB | 80 kbps
Luther Abernathy is a mailman with a dangerous habit. He makes it his business to know everyone else's--and then broadcasts it all over town. But it becomes clear that someone doesn't want him--or anyone else--to know one of the many secrets that lie within Luther's veritable treasure chest of knowledge when he meets an untimely death Biggie and young J.R. are the ones to find his body. It is seemingly an accidental one, but inconsistencies in the police report suggest foul play, and Biggie once more puts on her detecting hat.

Nancy Bell - Biggie and the Quincy Ghost

MP3 | 73 MB | 32 kbps
"Biggie Weatherford and her friends travel to the neighboring town of Quincy to learn how to start a historical society in their own home of Job's Crossing. Young J. R., who once again narrates the adventures of his detecting grandmother, is not thrilled with the trip, but soon finds that the town of Quincy isn't as quiet as he thought." "Their first night in Quincy, J. R. asks to hear about the inn's legandary ghost. The hostess happily tells them about a young woman known as Diamond Lucy who went on a picnic with her husband and was never seen alive again. The couple had been staying at the inn, and it is believed that her ghost came to settle there. The story leaves J. R. nervous, and after he goes to bed, he thinks he hears Diamond Lucy's ghost in the next room. He persuades his friend Rosebud to come with him to take a look, but the only thing they see is a secret passage that goes down to the lobby and out of the building."

Nancy Bell - Biggie and the Devil Diet

MP3 | 197 MB | 64 kbps
An old friend of Biggie's comes back to Job's Crossing. Rex Barnwell, along with his young wife, has returned to convert his father's ranch into a retreat for overweight teenage girls, and Biggie is forced to reveal a secret that she has always kept from J.R. Not long after this startling revelation, Rex is murdered. Knowing full well that he won't be able to keep Biggie away, the Texas Ranger in charge of the case enlists her help." "While Biggie pursues her investigation, J.R. has his hands full with troubles of his own. These troubles don't involve any murders - though it might be easier for J.R. if they did." As an extra treat for the reader, Willie Mae shares her recipe for King Ranch Casserole.

Nancy Bell - Restored to Death

MP3 | 177 MB | 64 kbps
Between raising his precocious teenage daughter and dodging the matchmaking of the local busybodies, Jackson Crain devotes himself to the curious peccadilloes of being a judge in tiny Post Oak, Texas. Aside from the occasional brawl or beating, hard crime here is rare. That changes when Dora Hughes, Jackson's shrewish sister-in-law, is bludgeoned and strangled to death while sunbathing on her patio.
Dora's henpecked husband, Ron, is accused of the crime. The man had been carrying on with a perky local waitress, and had demanded a divorce just before Dora died. But the case evolves into something decidedly sinister when a second body, a teenage girl, is found in a cornfield. And when Jackson connects both victims to a beautiful, exotic newcomer to Post Oak - a woman to whom he is dangerously attracted - the hunt for a clever killer exposes shattering secrets guaranteed to leave even the local gossips speechless.
