Highly Compressed Archive-- A better way to share??

As we all know,for a free user any file storage site is not user friendly(I mean they put many types of restriction to buy their premium(PAID) account.

So My suggestion is this-

Why we don't use a high compression archive to upload our file on these sites ?

[High compression archive-a file which is highly compressed using some software which are design to do so,like KGB, UHARC(UHARC GUI and WinUHA ).

Many of us think--these software, are way to slow and require a high end PC.

But what we don't see is that we are getting 1GB of file converted into like 10-100(MB).
so my question--
Why we don't upload file in highly compressed archive ?


It is better to download 1 link instead of 10.

In all reality, High compression isn't a bad idea, for those with good computers that have the power to uncompress them quickly. I remember someone saying that it took them, with a decent computer, about 8 hours to uncompress a 700mb file that was compressed to like 20mb.

If there is a good archiver/unarchiver that doesn't take hours and hours to unarchive it, then it would be worth it. :S

That's a good idea...but some users have different internet speeds and different computers, so it will depend on what they have and how good it is to determine which takes longer and what not.

yes i would prefer the bigger download because i can download at high speeds where as some may not. I think what needs to be done if possible is provide both option in the thread then everyone is happy. although this will take more time for the provider of the link
