Cracking tutorial help

I downloaded a file with cracking tools and a tutorial, it also had links to this website in.

Well i don't know if anyone here has used it, or if anyody can help...

I was working my way though the tutorial and when i tryed to edit using 'Hiew' it would not work because it was in read only mode or something, even when i check the propertys of the .exe file it was not on read only... I don't get whats wrong.
Can somebody please help me?
