I have the same type router,I let my xbox 360 get the info automatic on network settings, the same for all my computers,in other words netgear assigns the ip's to each of the systems requesting access, this keeps any conflect's from happening,I have three computers and a xbox 360 conected at all times, and a laptop sometimes,I have hughes satilite internet, and I have had no problems with any of my network systems, hope this will help...
First of all did you setup your network, and I assume you are useing wireless for your computers and a wired adapter for your xbox 360 to the netgear router,if you set up your router you should check your routers webpage access, this will show you all the routers settings,do not make any changes yet, check to see if your router is set to receive ip automatically example"
Internet IP Address
Get Dynamically From ISP
Use Static IP Address
IP Address ...
IP Subnet Mask ...
Gateway IP Address ...
Domain Name Server (DNS) Address
Get Automatically From ISP
Use These DNS Servers
the get Dynamically From ISP ,is the preset in most routers,
in otherwords the router is set to receive all information from your modem DSL or cable or what ever you use to connect to the internet, this device connects to the router, the router sends out the info to your computers, and xbox to access the internet, now the big question is,is the systems setup mannually or auto to receive there assigned ip addressess, when you setup your xbox 360 you went to the systems page, then clicked on network settings, did the system receive the information automatically or did you assign the IP address, each address must be different, example"""
the router assigns the ip address::192.168.1.2
and the sub net mask 255.255.255.0
and the gateway 192.168.1.1
and the dns server 86.62.3.45
note numbers are examples only/////
these are assigened automatically to each computer and xbox,
note the last number in the IP address should be different for each computer system and xbox,if the last number is the same as another assigned computer there will be a conflict, your netgear should have a mannual to help you.hope this info will help you to began your road to solveing your problem..GoodLuck...
