Extra internal Hd needed and OSX LaCie HD problem

Hello,

Since I lost my old Mac and 'cause I'm trying to find enough money to buy a new Tower, I work now for my job on a PC (no problem there) and at home I use a Intel Core Duo 6600 @2.40Ghz.

This computer became my main computer, but I need some extra HD's. I've got a C and a D disc but the first one is small, for the system and the second is full.

I added an older 40Gb Lacie FireWire 800 disc, but that's a small one. Now I added a newer LaCie FireWire 800 disc (Mac formatted but using Macdrive with love). Now I can't find the image back of this disc even with the right drivers installed. So I'll keep it for my new Mac.

Eventually I decided to add an internal HD but I don't know if it has to be a ATA SATA etc... one. Where can I find that whitout opening my case at the moment.

So here are my questions again: Where in XP can I find out what kind of HD I need? How can I get my FireWire 800 LaCie disc working... but this last is less important.

Thank you for helping me.

do you get a message to formatt FireWire 800 LaCie when you click it from My computer?

Also to figure out what hard drive you have:

You will get a lot of information, when installing a small tool called "AIDA32". It is freeware and can detect a lot of your hardware. Try Google for AIDA32, download and install it. You will be astonished what it has to tell you.

AIDA is here :

Good luck.

Thanks for the link. I'll try the program tomorrow. But first my answer to your question.

I don't see de HD at all. I'm guessing that Xp doesn't find the HD either, 'cause I get no message and I see no icon under "hard Disk Drives" under "My Computer".

Maybe the program will tell me something more. I'll keep you posted!

When you boot, the BIOS should be the first thing you see ( followed by your processor and computer manufacturer logo).

Tell me what you see for your Primary Master Drive, and your Primary Slave drive.

Also, tell me your computer brand and model name. This is just so i can see what kind of HD this computer came wth.

Also, when you add internal hard drives, you have to make sure you are using the right plug to connect it to the computer. ( The 5 pin is the power source cable). (the 32 pin the computer cable). you have to use the right combination.

Hope this helps!
