You sure that works with Vista, any versions of it?

Also make sure you meet the hardware requirements.

Also, depending your resolution, it won't work if it's too high or too low.

So check all your settings, Mainly the requirements.

i relly dont now what you mean by requirements

but i have dirext x 9 and nvidea

well for it to work, it has to meet certain requirements.

Just like when you apply for a job, you have to have a certain qualifications ie : Deegree/experience.

The same applies to a computer; The game has certain requirements that your computer has to match for you to be able to play it.
Ie : Ram/GFX Card/Adapter & Drivers
Also, does C4 give you an error before closing?

If it dosen't then try this, right click on your counterstrike logo. Go to properties > compatibility tab:

Check run this program in compatibility mode for :

and select XP SP2 and see if that works.

Tell me what happens.
