Do you need to know how to download add-ons? or do you want to know how to make a backup of your FireFox profile including add-ons and themes?

If you want to download and install add-ons you go to FireFox site and go to add-ons, find the add-on you want to install, ck and make sure it's compatible with your build of FireFox, if it is you hit the "add to FireFox button and follow the prompts. In most cases you will have to restart FireFox so the add-on will work properly.

If you want to make a backup of your Fire Fox profile including add-ons and themes, I would suggest using an add-on called FEBE. It works very well for me and has saved me on several occasions from myself.

If none of the above is of any use, please explain further.

I'm sorry, I just reread your post. I missed the part that you need help with installing "Active Stop Button 1.2 xpi

I went and looked at the add-on and all you should have to do is hit the install button as long as you are using FireFox versions 1.5-2.0.

If you just upgraded firefox then they don't have a lot of addons that work right now.
They are working on it but it may be a while before all the addons work again..
This from firefox..this is for version 2.0.0.15 .
don't know about firefox 3.
