age of empires2(kings)

hi ppl,
i downloaded the aoe2 kings file and its working great....but when i run my original conquerors cd, the error is as follows:

age of empires 2 not found. to install the conquerors expansion, you must have age of empires 2 installed.

any help will be greatly appreciated...thanks

my original aoe2 kings cd is badly damaged and setup cant find many files and shuts down
