There are pretty much countless applications out there at the moment that can convert one video format to another. To be honest though, half of them don't work properly. Many of them use odd compression techniques or alter the duration of the video. You mostly see it while working with high-end HD material. Unless you really need to convert it for a project or something, my recommendation would probably be to leave it in its native format since converting it will only downgrade quality and possibly change the output.

.swf to .avi has horrible conversion quality. are you trying to copy shockwave video clips?
