How to copy -transfer- .exe files
Hello There,
I've downloaded Acronis True Image Home 2010. The reason: I want to make a copy of my "c: program file" folder. I want to clean up my laptop and make a copy of all the programs I have, so afterwards I can put them back into place, without having to re-install all the programs... (I've been messing with driver updates and screwed up the Intel-wifi driver. Bad computer!! or stupid me??) After reading the Acronis manual I started having my doubts if this is possible. I thought that was what it was all about, making an Image and then copying it... I have a feeling that I have to make an Image of the Directory and the System32 as well. I'm using windows vista 32-bits and a Toshiba laptop. My first question is: "Is it possible to make an Image of .exe files, so that I can put everything back in place, without having to re-install the programs?" Second question: "Does Acronis do this job or do I need another program for this" Third question: "What do I have to make an Image off? Is the "program file" folder enough or do I have the copy the whole C: Drive?" Lots off questions, and please, understandable answers. I'm far from a computer-genius... Thanks beforehand!!!!!! first off the programs in the programs folder... when ya put them back.. u need to remember alot of programs rely on registry settings and other files that are located in other parts of your computer in order to run. some may run some may not.. you will also loose your registration on alot of programs....
If i were you i would just Create another partition on your hard drive first. then just copy the programs folder over to that.. much easier...

Thanks Biohazard.
If I create another partition, will this also be erased when I want to re-install windows?? I have an external hard.drive, so it's probably better on this one. If I do it this way (with the new partition), after cleaning up windows, the other files that enable me to run these programs (windows32, etc.) will probably be erased as well, I guess??
