Remove iTunes DRM from Purchased Videos?

Hi All,

I'm wondering if anyone knows of a way to remove the Fairplay DRM code that is attached to a "m4v file - protected MPEG-4 movie". I really just want to use on open source Media Player hooked up to my TV but of course it cannot play these protected files.
I don't want to change to file (reduce file size, quality, etc), just remove the DRM. I found some Apps on the Web but they all seem to re-rip the file and therefore lower the original quality.

Thanks All - trying to migrate my archives out of the "land of the locked"!

I'm sure one of these will work.

Thanks!

LazX0rUz,

I've give each a shot. Have you had success stripping the DRM with one or both or these? Thanks!

Question Stuck?

Hi again, thanks for the previous help but so far, neither of these software options have proved to strip the file of it's DRM.

Does anyone else know how to remove iTunes embedded DRM from music and videos purchased via their store? Trying to rid myself from these crazy restrictions.

Thanks much all!!

Thanks!

Night Hawk, thank you! I'll give this one a try. The issue with the other's I;ve tried is that they say they're complete with the DRM conversion but 9/10 the new file won't playback. I'll see what my results are on this App though. Have you used this to success yourself?

Night Hawk,

Just to let you know - this App did not work either. It appeared like it was going to convert but it stops and posts an error message of "virtual driver not installed". So I went to their website and did what they suggested to do for this error and it installed drivers but now when I launch the App, I wants me to register or run a trail version. Can't seem to win here. Thanks for the effort though!

iTunes is a champion of music, video downloading services. The user-friendly iTunes makes downloading music, videos quick and hassle-free. However, iTunes purchased songs and videos will not run on any other media player except for Apple products due to digital rights managements (DRM) which limit usages of devices or files.
