Hello Again,
I forgot a very important question: I used my Xerox Phaser 6120 Laser Printer on my Mac. Now wanting to connect it to my PC running XP I seem able to instal the driver(s) There are a few drivers I can install (Some for PS, PostScript I guess) but when I go to Printers and faxes I try to use the USB connection to connect the printer. But I get an errror message saying there is no printer available. Then there are the Port and LPT connections. Also I can create a new type of port but the only logical ones are the Local Port and the standard TCP/IP port. Nothing about any USB one. If I use the top option of the "select a printer port" window the only USB one is that of the Virtual Printer Port for USB. No plug-and Play printers are to be found. Please help me to get my printer working. [-O< So that I can print my own XP Bible! I know it's all much easier with Mac and I'm grateful for that. But this here makes me nuts. PS can Vista be the solution? But can it be installed next to or over XP without loosing all the programs I installed previously? |

There is a way to install 2 OS's at the same time, but make sure your computer is strong enough to handle all the requirements.
Now concerning the printer, are you sure you are getting the driver for XP? go to the Xerox website and they should offer free drivers for your printer that you can download. Also, your printer should come with 2 CD's, one for MAC and other for Windows, see if you can find the one for Windows. Or if you cant do anything then try this: Uninstall all of your printer drivers from Start> Right click on My Computer > Properties > Hardware > Decive manager. Now expand all the roots and see if your printer has a exclamation or yellow mark next to it. If it does, right click it and click uninstall. Even if it dosen't, right click it and hit uninstall, then download the driver from the Xerox website and try connecting it then. Hope this helps. ![]() |

I bought the PC because I took Autocad and Inventor courses to find work. My Mac being an older model could not run Windows. My new one will, whenever I've got enough money. Damned expensive tools. :O |

Ya, XP requires user input to get the driver's from, and it dosen't even have a feature to look on the net.
I don't really wanna say that installing vista is a safe thing, but if you have enough time at your hands, when dont you give it a shot? Try installing it, and then see if everything works out right, if it dosen't the use the computer recovery disk that came with your computer. ( Don't actually buy the vista, use a pirated one. There's one posted my Muneem in the Microsoft programs section). If everything works out, then its on you to use a pirated one, or a actual genuine one. ![]() Last edited by Hellsing834; May 3rd, 2008 at 11:34 PM. |

Got my printer working using a network connection. I had to figure out what the IP number was and that took me some time.
Thank you for the help and I'll try to install a not really legal Vista version but I'll make a back-up of what I've got now. Thank you for helping me!=D>=D> --------------------------------------- --- Furorem viri patientis cave! --- ---------------------------------------
