I have this hardware:
P5W DH Deluxe Mobo
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
Asus EN7300GT Silent (nVidia)
HDrives: 250GB SATA, 250GB External (FireWire), 40GB External (IDE to USB).
Optical Drives: LG ComboDrive (IDE), Pioneer DVD-RW (SATA).

I installed Kalyway 10.5.1 using kalyway_leo_10.5.i.iso, chose the EFI (GUID), NVInject and the Vanilla Kernel package.

I want to know which are the steps to follow, and other things to do (I.E, which kexts I have to backup) to have a working OS after the install.

Thanks,
Rodrigo

You can run the comboupdate 10.5.2 without problem and then after the restart (note that the pc will restar 2 times after the update so be patient) you can update the kernel with the original Vanilla 9.5.2!

Can someone absolutely confirm that it works with iAtkos 10.5.1? I'm not willing to try it unless it's an absolutely sure thing.

Not sure but do you have efi on iAtkos? If you do you should be able to install the update from Apple.

Would anyone by chance know which version (e.g. the Intel or AMD or other??) would be better suited for running virtualised under say vmware (or even virtualbox on Solaris)?
