A magician makes money by charging people to cast love spells on the objects of their affection. Complications arise when he decides that he wants a customer's bride for himself.
This is an interesting flick but rather hard to describe. It involves two rival magicians, I guess one who practices the black arts and another who takes the other extreme, and there's a bunch of hapless and lustful people caught in between. A rich woman lusts after the husband of another so she pays to have a spell put on him so he can be hers, and it works. Of course, the wife isn't going to let this go and pursues her husband, enlisting the help of another magician and then almost losing her life when a death spell is cast upon her by the dark magician. That's pretty much the basic storyline but it's far more complicated than this. There are definitely some macabre and gruesome touches here and there and up until the very end it plays pretty much like a straight horror flick, but at the end there is a battle between the two magicians that pulls out all the stops on unintentional hilarity. At least I think it was unintentional. Overall this is quite interesting and a treat for fans of Asian horror, as long as they take into consideration that this is over 30 years old. 8 out of 10.
